Sexual violence prevalence is high worldwide, specifically in the African continent. A recent review found that more than one-third (36.6%) of all women in the African region had experienced physical and/or sexual violence by their intimate partner and 11.9% of women had been sexually assaulted by someone other than a partner (WHO 2013).
